Antique French Henri II Style Buffet à Deux Corps!!
An impressive late 19th-century French Henri II Revival buffet à deux corps crafted from richly figured oak. This substantial two-piece cabinet displays the bold architectural styling that made the Henri II Revival one of France's most celebrated furniture styles.
The molded cornice is beautifully decorated with an elaborately carved foliate frieze centered by a heraldic shield. Turned and fluted supports frame the cabinet, lending a stately Renaissance-inspired appearance.
The upper section features two large glazed doors opening to spacious shelving, ideal for displaying fine china, crystal, books, or decorative objects. Below are two carved frieze drawers above a lower cabinet fitted with two paneled doors.
A particularly attractive feature is the pair of hand-painted porcelain plaques inset into the lower doors. Each depicts a romantic scene from the classical story of Cupid and Psyche and bears the artist's signature "E.Y.", adding exceptional decorative appeal.
