Gorgeous Antique Buffet A Deaux Corps Henri II Walnut Monumental, 19th Century!
Continental, late 19th Century heavily carved buffet a deaux corps in the renaissance Henri II revival taste having a walnut case in two parts, foliate carved broken pediment, the central section having a pierced arched foliate carved glazed door flanked by open display spaces with a single door below, the lower central section having an arched door framed by caryatids and foliate carved brackets, with serving space and doors below, on a stepped plinth and rising on bun feet. Approx. h. 113.375", w. 70.5", d. 22".
Condition: “Wear and imperfections from age, use, and movement. Both scrolled brackets with repairs (stable) and are detached (attach with dowels; non-structural dryness cracks to upper door; arch framing the lower doors is not flush with the case to one side; back has been drilled to secure the upper and lower sections; the carving is crisp.”
