Offered here is a substantial and impressive French Bureau Plat desk, richly mounted with ormolu and featuring a classic green tooled leather writing surface. A statement piece with exceptional presence and scale.
This elegant desk displays the graceful serpentine lines associated with French Louis XV style, enhanced by ornate gilt bronze mounts including:
• Figural female masks to the cabriole legs • Rocaille and foliate ormolu drawer mounts • Corner mounts and sabots • Decorative escutcheons
The desk features five drawers (three across the front, two at the reverse), allowing it to float in a room. The leather top is bordered with gilt tooling and framed by a wood edge with applied metal gallery.
The warm-toned wood body contrasts beautifully with the aged patina of the ormolu mounts.
